Hello friends and neighbors! We would like to make a few announcements. I, Jessie Baker, am now offically endorsing Cobalt fingerpicks by Bob Perry. Bob has what I consider to be the finest line of fingerpicks available anywhere, and with his ultra-slick cobalt coating (available on most, if not all picks), make them completely free of pick noise. Please visit Bob at his website www.cobaltbp.com.

Secondly I wanted to inform everyone that the Baker Boys will be performing at the Clark Co. Community Building in Henryville, IN (known to most people in the area as simply Henryville) this Saturday at 7:00 P.M.. Our first show in Henryville was our first major show on our own, it was also the first at which I began my emceeing. So I would like to personally invite each and everyone of you out to this free jamboree.

Thank you once again for stopping by the Baker Boys website. God bless you all!

                             Your bluegrass neighbor,

                                       -Jessie

Jaunary 6, 2007

Hello to our dear friends and fans on this fine January day!! I have a big anouncement to make: I , Jessie Baker of The Baker Boys, have officially joined the Karl Shiflett and Big Country Show as of Thursday, the fourth of this month. I will be featured on their stage shows singing harmony and pickin' banjo and Scruggs-style guitar. I will also be on their latest release on Rebel Records. On the KSBC web-site (www.karlshiflett.com) you can check out the band's upcoming show dates and latest news.

I know that a lot of people have some questions. Those being: 1) What is Taylor going to do?? 2) What's going to happen to the Baker Boys?? Firstly, Taylor will not be joining the Karl Shiflett & Big Country show. Secondly, The Baker Boys will still be accepting shows this year, as long as they do not conflict with Karl's dates. As for the band's future, that will be determined after my career with the KSBC.

Thank you for stopping by. This website will still be up and running and I will keep you all informed with my travels on the road with Karl and the band. Thanks again.

                              Your bluegrass neighbor,

                                         -Jessie

We would like to say a great big hello and howdy to all of their bluegrass friends and neighbors! We would like to also thank all in attendance of our last public show of the year, as well as Joe Wright for booking The Baker Boys.

Sadly this has been our last public show and we will dearly miss all of our fans until we see them at our first show next year; you can find this date marked on the "Schedule" page of the website. This show went especially well and inspite of my recent bout with an unknown sickness, I spoke and sang just as well as before. On this show we had a guest fiddler, Cody Bauer, who did an excellent job preforming with the group. Although Cody added a great deal to the overal band, he is regularly playing with another group. As of now, the Baker Boys are searching for a good bluegrass fiddler.

I would personally like to take time to thank all of the event producers, disc jockeys, friends, fans, family, and most importantly God for allowing us to have a great year! I also want to say that we love and appreciate everyone that comes out to a Baker Boys show. I hope to see you all next year.

                          Your bluegrass nieghbor,

                                            -Jessie

Howdy to all of our friends and visitors!! We would like to thank Don Tatlock and all of the attendes at the Hayden Jamboree! We would also like to thank Jerry Caudill for filling the place of David, our guitar player who couldn't make it.

We always love playing at Hayden, especially after getting to see one of Southern Indiana's best bluegrass bands, Deer Creek. The sound was great durring our set from the stage, and I was told that it sounded great throught the mains as well.  This was the second to last public show of the year, and I'm going to miss playing, but we'll be swamped by next summer. The last public show of the year will be Novermber eighteenth, at the Commons mall in Columbus, IN. It will be your last chance to see the Baker Boys this year. For information or directions to the event you can contact us via e-mail: jessie@bakerboysbluegrass.com . We hope to see you there!

                                  Your bluegrass neighbor,

                                               -Jessie

Hello to all our bluegrass friends and neighbors! We would like to thank Wes Wells, the entire staff at the Harvest Time restaurant, and all of our friends and fans for a great show; Friday, October thirteenth. I believe that this was one of the best shows we have ever played. Mom is really getting good on the bass, and we've really came together.

The nights performances included two, fourty-five minute sets, with a half-hour for intermission. The first show was great, and the crowd seemed to love it. This show featured, as most do, Taylor on the Baker Boys version of "Girl from West Virginia", on which Taylor sings lead. After our first show we stepped off stage, cooled off for a bit, and in the next thirty minutes we were back on stage again. After we had done the first couple of tunes, the time had came for Taylor to get out the fiddle; and because of his turtle like agility, I had to entertain the audience while he so sluggishly retrieved it. So I thought to myself, "What would be a better subject to speek of than Taylor's natural  inattentiveness and lacking speed?" I decided that a subject to rival the former could not be constructed. So I spoke of all that I have spoken to you, saying things like, " He went to bed last night, and he just never woke up.", and things of that matter. To which the crowd responded with howling laughs, giggles, and everything in between.

Well, I sure did love picking and entertaining some of the good folks at Everton, and I belived  that they enjoyed it as well. I hope that you can arrange your plans to come see us at our next show in your area or state soon. Thanks for reading.

Howdy friends! I would like to inform you all that at the Indiana State Picking and Fiddling Competition, which we attended Sept. 15 & 16, I won first place bluegrass banjo, and Taylor won first place mandolin! Even more great news, we won first place in the bluegrass band competition, with help from our good friends Joel Whittinghill, and Rocky Northern! Rocky filled in for David, who could not attend.  We are now the reigning Indiana state champions!

Anna, Taylor, and I would like to firstly thank God for allowing us to attend, and for blessing us. We would also like to thank the following: Tony Rothrock, Joel Whittinghill, Rocky Northern, the Burton family, the sound staff at the competition, all of our great friends who supported us, and last, but not least, all the staff at Frenchy's Kettle Corn.

Thank you so much for reading, and I hope to see you at IBMA, or at an upcoming bluegrass show soon! Your bluegrass neighbor,

                                               -Jessie

                                                  September 9, 2006

Hello once again to all of our friends and fans who are checking in on us from time to time. We would like to thank everyone that was able to join us at the East Troy Bluegrass Festival in East Troy, Wisconsin; as well as our friends who were not able to be present. The Baker Boys would also like to give a special thanks to Melissa Sherman for booking us at the event.

This show is the first in which mom played bass. Our previous bass player, Joe Spicer, had quit as of September 2, and we have made a very nice transition. I think having Anna as a bass player had very much to do with our the great crowd response we recieved.

I was very happy to make so many new friends at East Troy. After all of our warm Indiana weather, up north in Wisconsin, it's cold! As soon as we got to the square, on which the festival is held, we really needed to "warm up!" When we got out our instuments, David asked me if I knew were he could get a hot cup of coffee to pour over his hands! In cold weather, as such, our high tech remedy happens to be to put our hands in our pockets! The show itself went very well, and could be considered the best Baker Boys show yet.

I hope to see you all at one of our shows soon. But until then, I would like to thank you for reading. Your bluegrass neighbor,

                                                   -Jessie

                                                  September 2, 2006

Greetings to fellow bluegrass pickers, and fans!  We would like to send out a big "Thank you!" to Jennifer and Jason Blankenship for allowing us to perform at the first annual Boats, Bluegrass, & Barbecue Festival.  Even more so to all of our friends and fans that attended the event!

We started our first show of the day at 8:15 A.M.; I almost woke up to my own banjo playing!  Our first three shows were all gospel, and played in a brunch hall. When we had finished at twelve o' clock we had played two hours and fifteen minutes.

Our next show was at one fifteen; we had just enough time to catch Crimson River's performance, and rush to the stage on which we were to play.  The first show The Baker Boys played went extremely well and at two o'clock we were left wondering were the last forty-five minutes had gone!  After our show we had gotten the chance to talk with most of the great folks in attendance.  Well, as soon as we had all talked eveyone's ears off, Taylor and David hit the barbecue and the rest of us caught the next show.  Around the second song, my stomach was crying for food. The remedy: a local Mexican restaurant.

After the Baker Family had finshed chowing down some A1 Mexican cuisine, we headed back to do our fifth show.  As soon as the show was finished, we hung around to jam with another band that was booked.

That concludes our show in Martinsville, Indiana; September 2, 2006.  Thanks for reading!  I hope to see you an upcoming Baker Boys show.

                                                               -Jessie

                                                    August 23, 2006

Hello to all of our bluegrass friends and neighbors! We would like to thank Terry and Jan Lease, all of the fans, and the staff at Rockome Gardens for a great show last Saturday and Sunday, August 19th & 20th. Saturday was so hot that David, our guitarist, looked like he had had a five gallon bucket of water poured over his head. I told the croud that he looked like he had been preachin'...real hard! When it's that hot there's only one way to keep cool, drink lots of water. Forgetting that water was the key, I had refused a fresh bottle right before we went on. So to my knowledge, not one of the Baker Boys brought water on stage, and we all suffered the consequences.

That day we saw a great band and good friends of ours Carolina Road. Lorraine had gotten a new banjo player since the last time I had seen her, and he had a 1964 Mastertone which he so graciously allowed me to pick on after their set. David, couldn't make it Sunday because he had to play with his father at a church homecoming, so we had a great multi-instrumentalist friend of ours from Granite City, Illinios, a.k.a. Joseph Dean Jr. , help us out. Lucky for us, and amazingly without water , the day was so much cooler and there was a wonderful breeze from the stage.

About and hour and a half after our set I played Foggy Mt. Special with yet another great band filled with great people, the Bankester Family. All in all this weekend sure was a hum-dinger of a great one, and I thank everyone there especially Terry and Jan Lease, and Ray & Beverly who came two and a half hours from Indianapolis to see us.

Thanks for reading, hope to see you all at our next show.
